The deadline that matters first is the host school's internal cutoff. Schools need time to check subjects, documents, payments, and exam logistics before final registration.
The IB publishes session rules and assessment procedures, but a retake candidate normally registers through a school. That school can set earlier internal dates because it must confirm capacity, subjects, records, payments, and venue logistics.
For a private or external candidate, the practical deadline is the date by which a willing host school can still accept you, not the last date you saw on a generic calendar.
For November 2026, start the host-school search as soon as possible after results or university requirements are clear. Build in time for coordinator review, school acceptance, registration documents, identity checks, and any local fee rules.
If your original school only participates in May, an external November host may be the difference between waiting months and retaking in the next available session.
IBretake lets you submit one paid search with countries, subjects, candidate location, and radius. Eligible coordinators review the request, and your dashboard shows a case number and updates.
Refunds open after 5 working days with no school acceptance. If no school accepts within 14 days, the full refund process starts automatically.
